Fractured #4 - Please Excuse My Depression 1 of 1
FRACTURED #4 - PLEASE EXCUSE MY DEPRESSION is an original painting and the 4th in the series of 4, a 24x36 mixed media aerosol on Giclée print.
I've been a photographer most of my life. I've been a multidisciplinary artist all of my life, whether it's writing, acting, sculpting, drawing, dancing, directing, I've been using art to express my world view since I was a little kid. For over fifteen years I have photographed street art and artists in process, and in the midst of one of the worst depressions of my life I began to paint on walls. It was another way for me to express myself and to deal with the pain I was in. It helped. It helped me, and it touched others. I have been working towards this moment for several years now, where my photography, my writing and my painting converge into a single form. It seemed only right for the first series to reflect where it started. This mixed media work is a self portrait museum quality giclee print, painted and splattered with multiple layers of hand-cut stencil, as one of four. It feels ever closer to expressing those dark, fractured moments of depression when all you can do is just try making it to the next moment. And though it may seem dark, there is levity in the words, as there is always humor in the worst of times. This is only the beginning. There is a wealth of creativity overflowing and I look forward to the continued artistic journey. I am grateful for the opportunity to create and share. We are all in this together!
